Our Partnership with Bloom

At Edgewood Outfitters, we believe that great communities are built when everyone is given the opportunity to learn, contribute, and thrive. That's why we are proud to partner with Bloom Consulting to provide meaningful, hands-on work experiences for students with disabilities throughout the Hampton Roads area.

Through this partnership, students have the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and gain experience in a real retail environment. Working alongside our team, they learn what it takes to keep a store running behind the scenes while developing the confidence and skills needed for future employment opportunities.

Students participate in a variety of day-to-day retail activities, including helping process incoming shipments, steaming and tagging merchandise, organizing inventory, preparing products for the sales floor, maintaining store cleanliness, and assisting with visual merchandising projects. These experiences provide valuable exposure to workplace expectations while allowing students to contribute in meaningful ways to our business.

Just as important as the technical tasks are the soft skills students develop throughout their time with us. By working as part of a team, they gain experience in communication, collaboration, time management, problem-solving, responsibility, and attention to detail. These skills extend far beyond retail and help prepare students for success in future careers and everyday life.

For our team, this partnership is about much more than business. It is an opportunity to create an environment where individuals of all abilities feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to reach their potential. We have seen firsthand the pride, growth, and confidence that comes from meaningful work experiences, and we are honored to be part of that journey.
